Does Lowering Salt intake Prevent Heart attacks?
There are conflicting opinions about this subject. In a NY Times May 15, 2013 article, “No Benefit Seen In Sharp Limits On Salt in Diet” by Gina Kolata, she writes that Study Outcomes have concluded that very low consumption of Sodium has very little benefit in preventing heart attacks.
Two minerals that keep blood pressure within normal range is Sodium and Potassium. The dietary guidelines, based upon on the 2005 medicine report, recommend that general population aim for sodium levels (NaCl) levels of 1,500 to 2,300 milligrams a day because those levels will not raise blood pressure.
The minimum biological requirement of sodium is 500 milligrams per day. Since it’s in a lot of different foods (processed foods), it’s almost impossible to reduce levels to that minimum requirement. Which I would never recommend anyway. The POW’s taken by the Japanese during WW2 were starved and suffered from severe deficiencies…one being Sodium as well as many other minerals and vitamins. Severe deficiencies can cause paralysis, convulsions, and death. Heatstroke occurs when you sweat out too many minerals, that’s why it’s recommended for athletes to drink electrolytes (minerals). Anyway, these POW’s who worked on the docks shoveling salt (the inedible type of salt) for 14 backbreaking hours per day would put salt down there pants and while back in the slave camps they would put the salt in metal cans, add water and boil it down. The salt generated from the evaporated water they could then consume. It was life-saving.
Along with this problem of sodium, overconsumption is the under-consumption of its “antagonist” Potassium. Higher potassium intake helps to lower blood pressure by reducing the effects of sodium. The recommended amount for adults is 4700 milligrams.
Sodium and potassium are necessary for maintaining electrochemical gradients across cell membranes. Sodium is essential for hydration because it pumps water into your cells. Potassium functions in the pumping of byproducts or waste products out of the cell. They really serve as the body’s fluid regulator and waste product regulator. People who have high blood pressure are usually put on a diuretic, to get the kidneys to pump the excess fluid out of the body to help lower blood pressure. This never addresses the cause!
As I have repeated many times, your health is about ratios. The average Americans diet ratio of Sodium to Potassium is 2:1, two sodium for one potassium. When it should be 5 potassium’s to1 sodium. If the average American consumes 3,400 milligrams to as high as 4,500 milligrams of salt a day, that would mean you would need to consume many foods rich in Potassium to keep that healthy ratio. Since sodium makes up about 40% of salt, this amount is about a teaspoon of table salt a day. And most cardiologist recommend Middle age or older and individuals with high blood pressure should aim to consume no more 1500 milligrams per day but this is now debatable according to a “2008 Study they randomly assigned 232 Italian patients with aggressively treated moderate to severe congestive heart failure to consume either 2,760 or 1,840 milligrams of sodium a day but otherwise to consume the same diet. Those consuming a lower level of sodium had more than three times the number of hospital readmissions – 30 as compared with 9 in the higher-salt group – and more than twice as many deaths – 15 as compared with 6 in the higher-salt group.
In another study, published in 2011, followed 28,800 subjects for 4.7 years. The risk for heart attacks, strokes, congestive heart failure and death increased with those consuming more than 7,000 milligrams of sodium and those consuming fewer than 3,000 milligrams of sodium per day.”
Dr. Alderman, a dietary sodium expert at Albert Einstein College of Medicine states as sodium plunge, triglyceride levels increase insulin resistance increases, and the activity of sympathetic nervous system increases (increased heart rate). Each of these factors increases the risk of heart disease.
A simple solution is don’t use normal table salt (NaCl) which affects ratios and use sea salt that also contains 50+ minerals. And make sure you consume more potassium, Omega 3 fats and stay away from white flour products.

Stop wasting your money on synthetic vitamins?
We have NEVER biochemically altered food and made it better for human consumption. Do you think it would be better to consume olive oil from squeezed olives or olive oil that has been biochemically altered in a lab? If the product is delivered in a form that is NOT FOUND IN NATURE then by definition it cannot be genetically compatible for the humans because our genetic requirements are based entirely on what is found in nature.
Be aware of the word ‘natural’. ‘Natural’ does NOT mean as it is found in nature. ‘Natural’ means that it is a by-product of something natural. Only ‘naturally occurring’ means that it is in the form found in nature. Synthetic vitamins and nutrients extracted from yeast fall into the category of ‘natural’ because they are a by-product of something found in nature. However, they are NOT naturally occurring and NOT found anywhere in nature.
The same is true for concentrated fish oils or fish oils with altered EPA and DHA fatty acid ratios and fish oils in the ester rather than triglyceride form. Synthetic vitamins never grew in the ground, were never energized by the sun, and were never part of anything alive. They are chemicals; they are NOT food or nutrients.
Also, be aware of the term organic instead of CERTIFIED ORGANIC. Organic is meaningless in terms of freedom from pesticides, herbicides, GMO foods, synthetic vitamins or synthetic fertilizers. The term organic has nothing to do with being grown, harvested, or processed according to certified organic standards. Many companies use the term organic to deliberately mislead consumers. If there is not a certified organic label on the product then you know you are being deliberately deceived. Also, companies are allowed to use certified organic ingredients and spike them with synthetic vitamins and still have the product certified organic. Be aware!
Also companies that give a long list of healthy ingredients such as fruits and vegetables but then simply add synthetic vitamins and make label claims based entirely on the synthetic vitamin content and not the fruits and vegetables (because there is so little of the fruits and vegetables in the product – the only thing the long list of fruits and vegetables means is that there is a large variety of fruit and vegetable content in minute amounts). As soon as you see a label that has 100% of the recommended daily allowance of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K) in a fruit and vegetable product you can be certain that these come from synthetic vitamins – fruits and vegetables contain virtually no fat or fat-soluble vitamins (with the exception of vitamin K)!
The research on the consumption of fruits and vegetables is clearly shown to prevent cancer, heart disease, and many other chronic diseases. However, the research on vitamins has not been shown to prevent these same diseases. How is this possible? Once you understand that the vitamin supplementation research that fails to show a benefit does NOT actually study vitamins as they are found in fruits and vegetables. 10 Reasons why the flu shot can be more dangerous than the Flu
Just because your medical doctor is forced to ask if you want the Flu shots by the American Medical Association guidelines doesn’t make getting it effective or a good thing.
1.) There is a total lack of real evidence that young children even benefit from flushots. A systematic review of 51 studies involving 260,000 children age 6 to 23 months found no evidence that the flu vaccine is any more effective than a placebo.
2.) Medical journals have published thousands of articles revealing that injecting vaccines can actually lead to serious health problems including harmful immunological responses and a host of other infections.
3.) Ever noticed how vaccinated children or adults within days or few weeks develop runny noses, pneumonia, ear infections and bronchiolitis? The reason is the flu virus and chemicals cause immuno-suppression i.e. lowering of the immunity. The flu vaccines actually do not immunize but sensitize the body against the virus.
4.) Flu vaccines contain strains of the flu virus along with other ingredients. And if you have a disease that is already lowering your body’s ability to fight a virus, taking the flu shot will put your body in danger of getting the full effects of the flu and make you more susceptible to pneumonia and other contagious diseases.

Almost all the ACIP have a financial interest in immunizations. It’s all about the money and may have very little to do with your health and well being. I always take into account the “risk” verse “benefit” when deciding what to do.

The Ugly Truth about Sugar-Free Products
Different ad campaigns have tried to convince people that High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) is good and natural because it’s made from corn. But did you know that when this grain metabolizes into sugar it causes a huge spike in blood sugar, thus requiring an outpouring of insulin from the overworked pancreas? This is one of the major contributors to the increase in type II diabetes
The USDA estimates about one-quarter of the calories consumed by Americans is in the form of HFCS. The average Westerner consumes 142 pounds a year of sugar, and the products most people rely on to lose weight (low-fat diet foods) are often the ones highest in fructose. “Over 10 weeks, 16 volunteers on a controlled diet including high levels of HFCS produced new fat cells around their heart, liver and other digestive organs. They also showed signs of food-processing abnormalities linked to diabetes and heart disease. Another group of volunteers on the same diet, but with glucose sugar replacing fructose, did not have these problems.”
When you eat fructose from corn, 100 percent of the metabolic burden rests on your liver. But with table sugar (glucose), your liver has to break down only 20 percent because every cell in your body, including your brain, utilizes glucose. When you eat 120 calories of glucose, less than one calorie is stored as fat, unlike 120 calories of fructose results in 40 calories being stored as fat. The metabolism of fructose taxes your liver and creates waste products and toxins, including uric acid, which increases blood pressure and causes gout.
Glucose also suppresses the hunger hormone ghrelin and stimulates leptin, which suppresses appetite. Artificial sweeteners and sugar-free/diet products lack the above; therefore not satisfy your hunger and making it harder to lose weight.
Deceptive Advertisements mislead the public and drive people to assume that sugar-free products and natural mean less weight. In 2006, Cadbury Schweppes was threatened with a lawsuit for labeling 7Up as “All Natural” or “100% Natural”, despite de presence of HFCS and on January 2007, they agreed to stop calling it “All Natural”. They now label it “100% Natural Flavors.” Sugar-free products might not have sucrose but have “natural” fructose (HFCS). A 2005 study reported that some HFCS manufactured in the U.S. contained trace amounts of mercury. It appeared to come from caustic soda and hydrochloric acid (chemicals used in the manufacture of HFCS)
I use raw sugar, honey or organic cane sugar. Four teaspoons per day in your coffee is isn’t the cause of your weight or health issues. If you only drink pure water and 50% of your everyday diet is fruit and vegetables, 40% is grass-fed animal meat, and only 10% grain per day, you will get to ideal weight in no time. Of course, you need to avoid all artificial sweeteners, and anything containing HFCS.
Why mineral balance is important for maintaining a healthy body?
Minerals and Vitamins are essential for health but I like to compare minerals to oxygen and vitamins to water. You can live without water longer than oxygen, just as you can live a lot longer without vitamins than minerals.
About 5% of every cell of the body contains minerals, which act as a coenzyme for the proper function of muscles, nerves, and cells of the body. Severe deficiencies although very rare can cause paralysis, convulsions, and death. E.g. a heat stroke occurs when you sweat out too many minerals, that’s why it’s recommended for athletes to drink electrolytes (minerals). However, most people do suffer slight deficiencies contributing to heart disease, osteoporosis, aneurysms, and premature aging.
There are two types of minerals: Macro and Micro. Macrominerals are needed in amounts greater than 100 milligrams: calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sodium, chloride, and potassium. Micro minerals (trace minerals) are needed in amounts less than 100 milligrams: examples are iron, zinc, iodine, selenium, copper, manganese, selenium and chromium.
Never take trace minerals with milk because milk blocks the absorption of the above trace minerals. Take minerals with a non-dairy protein meal for the fact that you need a lot of stomach acid to ionize minerals and the acid helps break them down for better intestinal absorption. Chelated minerals (combined with amino acids) absorb 40%. Metallic minerals (a rock) absorb 10%. Colloidal minerals absorb around 90% because the plant absorbed the minerals (tastes like dirt).
Many conditions are related to imbalances in minerals such as high blood pressure. Salt should contain 80 minerals, however, table salt is sodium chloride (NaCl), which if consumed in large quantities causes imbalances. Avoid NaCl and take real sea salt, which contains 50+ minerals (helps with cardiovascular health).
One sign of a mineral imbalance are white spots on the fingernails (a sign of a zinc deficiency). Another mineral imbalance is kidney stones. M.D’s suggested avoiding calcium. However, research has proven kidney stones are not caused by too much calcium but a calcium deficiency. When a person is dehydrated and deficient in calcium and/or has an acidic body pH (consuming too much meat, grain, dairy) this causes calcium to be taken from the bones in order to maintain calcium balance. It’s this calcium taken from the bones that bind with oxalates and urates in the kidneys that form stones. With a calcium-rich diet, the calcium would have normally bonded with the urates and oxalates in the intestines instead of the kidney, thus preventing stones. Prevent stones by drinking 50% of your body weight in ounces of water per day, eat 50% vegetables (calcium-rich) and take a few hundred milligrams of calcium per meal.
Understanding How To Increase Our Life Expectancy
Aging is good unless your body degenerates early and you can no longer be active. The cause of premature aging is toxicity and deficiency, which affects gene expressions that lead to sickness NOT faulty genes. Unlike modern Americans, our ancestors rarely died from lifestyle diseases: cancer, diabetes, heart disease or suffered from diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, chronic fatigue, low fertility, or depression.
Why do people live longer today than 110 years ago? Most people think it’s because of medications. Wrong! Research shows the reason we live longer today is due to sanitation, refrigeration, and dentistry. The number one cause of death 110 years ago was infections and today’s cleaner living prevents most of them and of the few infections from bacteria or trauma that do turn potentially deadly, we can give credit to antibiotics. But medications are not the reason for increased life expectancy.
The number of Japanese people living past 100 reached a record high of 36,000 in 2008. Mr. Tanabe, who was born in 1895, was the world’s oldest man who recently died at the age of 113. The younger populations will not live as long because they’ve adopted early on a Western diet: overconsumption of milk, meat, white flour products, and chemically processed foods. Mr. Tanabe and other centenarians’ diets were mostly vegetables, berries, starchy foods (brown rice) and small amounts of fish, poultry and grass-fed cattle.
Cell division determines aging rate. You’re born with a number of cells that continuously divide, photocopying their DNA. Think of photocopying a piece of paper. The photocopy is never as good as the original. These same cells then divide again and another photocopy is made from the photocopy and so on. What happens after 120 years of cell divisions? The quality of the photocopy is so poor that the body cannot read the recipes for life within the DNA, which causes organ failure and you die of old age.
The average life expectancy is 78 years of age instead of 120 because anything that speeds up the rate of cell division also speeds up the aging rate. Whenever a person eats, thinks or moves in ways that are genetically incongruent to the body’s needs, there’s an increase of stress, which increases the rate of cell division, speeding up the aging rate. Imagine we lived today like our ancestors lived 100+ years ago but had the advantages of modern technology. We would all be living well and active in our 90’s without disabilities. Unfortunately, we adopted a new lifestyle that includes preservatives and hormones in foods, a high-calorie diet, and a sedentary lifestyle, promoting toxins and vitamin deficiencies, speeding up cell division.
Why is Stress the Silent Killer?
Why does your pulse, blood pressure, cholesterol and insulin levels increase and your immune system decreases under stress? Imagine you’re attacked by a Tiger: your nerve system perceives a threat, which immediately raises blood pressure, pulse, and heart rate (your muscles need oxygen to fight or run) and down-regulates the immune system to conserve energy for fighting and running.
Then, your body produces stress hormones, Cortisol, which regulates blood sugar… key to controlling weight. Cortisol increases insulin resistance by regulating organ cell receptors from allowing sugar to get into the cells. Why? Muscles need more energy to fight or run. Organs are secondary. Cortisol causes the liver to breakdown glycogen into sugar and it promotes the breakdown of proteins into sugar. This is a catabolic (breakdown) state, not anabolic (growth state). We want to survive the moment and we need energy.
What’s the difference between the hunter-gatherer and the modern American? The hunter-gatherer moves all day using all that excess sugar in the bloodstream. The modern American sits around all day, using no energy and converting glucose into fat cells, causing the pancreas to produce more insulin in an attempt to get rid of the toxic sugar. The problem with too much blood glucose (sugar) is that the body produces more insulin (diabetes), which is one of the great stimulators of the stress response. Thus, the best defense against stress is MOVEMENT, not drugs.
In addition, Cortisol inhibits the uptake of LDL cells in the liver and stops producing HDL, increasing total cholesterol while one is under stress. Cholesterol is a precursor to make stress hormones and gives an adaptive advantage.
Why do you crave fats and sweets? Fats are needed to make stress hormones and sugar is needed for energy. Hunter-gatherers ate nuts and meat for fat cravings and fruit for sugar. Today’s man eats candy, ice cream, cookies, and unhealthy saturated fats, which spike sugar levels, promoting insulin production, which promotes more cortisol, more insulin resistance (vicious cycle).
The body was genetically designed to miss meals, but not to overeat white flour products and sit for eight hours a day. Unfortunately, the body can hardly discern between a tiger and a donut and when we eat genetically incongruent foods, the body produces stress hormones in order to give an adaptive advantage to survive the moment. However, if you’re chronically stressed, these same hormones will kill you in the long run and cause conditions such as obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, depression, infertility, etc. What pill could ever solve a problem created by too much eating and too little movement? No pill.
History of Heart Disease
Nearly half of all Americans die of heart attacks. A century ago no such pathology was recognized nor did it even have a name. The first reported heart attack occurred in 1896 and several years later the first write up on heart attacks appeared in the New England Journal of Medicine. The article was devoted to this rare condition that named it “myocardial infarct.” Paul Dudley White, M.D., a famous heart specialist in the mid-twentieth century said, “When I graduated from medical school in 1911, I had never heard of coronary thrombosis.”
One hundred years have passed and we’ve come a long way. Half of us are dying from heart attacks and strokes, which is easily preventable by simply changing the terrible practices that have become our conventional way of life. Is it the eating of too much cholesterol and saturated Fat? Is it too much “stress” in our lives?
Drug companies have pounded into our brains that the only hope is a pill. If cholesterol is the cause and cholesterol drugs are the answer, then why is heart disease still the number one killer in the United States? Well, maybe if we give it to our children, then maybe it will prevent heart attacks or strokes. But as of now, according to the double-blind studies, Statin drugs are useless in preventing heart attacks and strokes. You just die of heart attack or stroke with a lower cholesterol number.
What about stress? 100 years ago many people worked like slaves just to provide minimal food, clothing, shelter, and sanitation. Presently, our standard of living has increased so dramatically that nothing we face remotely resembles the real physical stress that our ancestors faced. We would more accurately be described as physical stress deprived. In my opinion, this 180-degree lifestyle change is the single greatest cause for diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and depression. Sitting all day is the most hazardous thing a person can do for their health.
Besides lack of movement, the six nutritional changes that have occurred in the last 100 hundred years are direct causes of cardiovascular disease:
1. Chlorination and fluoridation of drinking water.
2. The demineralization of our drinking water.
3. Increase in consumption of sugar and other refined white flour products.
4. Increase consumption of hydrogenated oils and lack of Omega 3 fats.
5. The homogenization of milk. (dead milk)
6. The trace mineral depletion of our soil and thus our food.
These can easily be reversed if you go to a doctor who focuses on deficiencies and toxicities, not only symptoms.
Allergies, Stuffy Nose And Congestion… What’s The Cause?
Madelyn, 10, woke up every morning tired and severely congested. Her condition improved throughout the day but the symptoms always returned upon going to bed. Ruled out the deviated septum and acute infection. What’s the cause?
There are two types of allergies; IgE’s are immediate allergic reactions, which occur within twenty minutes after exposure and cause 5% of all allergies and represent 95% of all doctor visits. IgG’s are delayed allergic reactions that occur about one to three days after exposure and cause 95% of all allergies/conditions. Most people are unaware that something they drink, eat, rub on their skin or breath in could be the cause of sinusitis, eczema, migraines, auto-immune, depression, anxiety, ADHD, weight problems, stomach problems, asthma, sinus drip or mucus/sicknesses or a chronic stress response.
Allergists test immediate allergic reactions via a scratch/blood test to identify the substance but don’t test for delayed allergic reactions. A new technology, the BAX 3000 laser from BioAllergenix tests over 60,000 substances housed in its database. It doesn’t specifically test for antibodies/allergies, but frequencies of substances that cause a stress response to the nerve system which can affect the immune system. It works similarly to a lie detector measuring the autonomic nervous system’s response.
Due to Madelyn’s history, I treated her for the main food groups: egg, dairy, vitamins, minerals, wheat, etc. As well as everything the test picked up, everything her mother believed was causing the problem and everything I believed could contribute to her problem. I treated for dust mites based upon her problem improved when she was out of the house but became worse only when she was in bed. I recommended dust mite barriers, a new pillow, instructed mom how to kill dust mites. However, she was not better. Herpes zoster (shingles) is an adult version of the chickenpox, but it can be tremendously painful for months and in some cases debilitating if it affects the eyes or brain. Anti-Premature aging
Aging is good unless your body degenerates prematurely and you can no longer be active. The number of Japanese people living past 100 is reaching a record high of 36,000 in 2008. A great example of anti-premature aging is Mr. Tanabe, who was born on September 18, 1895. He was the world’s oldest man who recently died at the age of 113. His meals included fried shrimp and Miso soup with clams and avoided alcohol and cigarettes. Unfortunately, the younger generations will not live as long because of overconsumption of milk, unhealthy meat, high grain and heavily chemically processed foods. Our older generations’ diets consisted primarily of fish, vegetables, berries, and starchy foods (brown rice.)
Cell division is what determines the aging rate. People are born with a number of cells that continuously divide, photocopying their DNA, however, the photocopy is never as good as the original. These same cells then divide again and another photocopy is made from the photocopy and so on. So, what happens after 120 years of cell divisions? The quality of the photocopy is so poor that the body cannot read the recipes for life within the DNA, which eventually causes organ failure and you die of old age.
The average life expectancy is 78 years of age instead of 120 because anything that speeds up the rate of cell division also speeds up the rate of aging. Whenever a person eats, thinks or moves in ways that are genetically incongruent to the body’s needs, there is an increase of stress, which increases the rate of cell division, which then speeds up the rate of aging. Cigarettes, processed grains, hormones in foods and a high-calorie diet which promotes high insulin levels in the blood are few examples that speed up cell division. Illness is not due to aging but bioaccumulation of toxins, the only correlation to aging is arthritis (caused by repetitive stress on the joints.) However, aging alone does not make a person sick, they are sick because of toxicity and deficiency.
Aging in an excuse that doctors use to justify medication, thus, stop asking your doctor “what do I have, what do I need to take,” instead of start asking, “what am I deficient in or toxic with that is causing my body to malfunction?”
A Migraine sufferer’s story
I heard the most remarkable first-hand account of a woman’s experience with migraines. This is her story… She tells Dr. Douglas, (my colleague and the person who taught me everything about Bio-Energetic medicine) I hear you are a miracle worker and an expert in getting rid of migraine headaches. I’ve had one migraine headache in my life but it has lasted 10 years. I take Imitrex for the migraines but my doctor tells me I can no longer take the medication because it is causing liver failure. 95% of all allergies are “delayed reaction allergies” that occur one to three days later. Most allergists concentrate on the allergies that occur right away. On May 2009, Popular Science magazine published an article named “Eat your Insects”, “Strawberry yogurt, maraschino cherries, and fake crabmeat all share an odd ingredient, their red dye comes from crushed female cochineal beetles. Consumer advocates argue that companies should include the ingredient on food labels because of rare, yet potentially fatal, allergic reactions. The FDA currently classifies the bug extracts as “artificial color” on food labels, but its new ruling requires companies to list the insect by name beginning in 2011.” Red dye, yellow dye or some other chemical or preservative in our foods or beverages could cause fatal reactions but more than likely it will cause a delayed allergic reaction leading to headaches, irritable bowel, sinusitis, anxiety, depression, ADHD, Obsessive compulsive disorders, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, etc. Make sure to check labels on foods and if you cannot pronounce it, then avoid it.
Very often I hear, “doctor I am allergic to cats,” “I am allergic to milk,” “I am allergic to peanuts.” But in reality you could be allergic to the cat litter, cat food or cat urine. As for the milk, you could be allergic to bovine growth hormone or antibiotics, or even the pesticides on peanuts.

SOLUTION TO ALLERGIES
I suffered from hives on my body every morning for one month. My condition disappeared after leaving the house but always returned at night.
